Can you let the guests talk?
The subject matter is interesting, but I can't listen anymore. Rachel is a bizarrely overconfident "interviewer" that is somewhere between frustrating and painful to listen to. You want to hear the guests' stories and experiences, but before they can speak she cuts them off to explain what they're talking about, explain what they're feeling, etc. She speaks as if she knows the people better than they do themselves, and it's extremely invalidating and offputting. I would also add that as another mental health professional, I can say she is acting far outside her training and scope of practice. She offers extremely ill-informed diagnostic, psychological, and medical assessments that are far outside the training of a marriage therapist, and questionably legal in terms of licensure laws. I give two stars because the topics and the guests themselves are very interesting . It almost doesn't matter, though...she should say she's interviewing L. Ron Hubbard himself from the grave. Nobody would be the wiser, as she wouldn't let him speak anyway. (And no, I'm not a disgruntled Scientologist or whatever. I just genuinely love this topic and can't stand the podcast).Read full review »

I love this podcast because the host is so well educated on coercive controlled environments and cults in general. She is also the rare therapist that understands cults and the people who are in them.

I really enjoy the podcast and learning more about the psychology behind belonging to a cult. I’m on season 3 and the sound quality is still terrible, hopefully that improves. Season 3 episode 3 pt 1 I cannot even hear the host, which makes me sad because I really appreciate what she usually says.
