A Well Rounded Film Podcast
The InSession Film Podcast has two things that makes it stand out in my plethora of film podcasts: 1. Its hosts, JD and Brendan don't limit themselves to popular blockbusters, but neither do they shy away from them. Instead they cover a wide range of films, from the biggest hits to the smallest indies to deep cut classics. It's a refreshing take in a landscape of podcasts that usually focus exclusively on niche titles or maintream fare. 2. They also try to really dig into whatever film they talk about. No matter if it's the newest TRANSFORMERS film or an Andrei Trakovsky, they do their best to go over the good and the bad, giving credit where it's due in films they hate and not shying away from deconstructing their problems with movies they love. They have a rotating list of terms they love to use which can sometimes give them a "film student hipster" vibe some people may find annoying (in which case I would direct you to another podcast I love, the True Bromance Film Podcast, for more...uh..."casual" movie conversations with plenty of drinks). But if you want an in-depth film critisicm podcast with great discussion, a wide scope, and creative analysis, you can't do much better than the InSession Film Podcast, a place to hear views on the biggest movies AND discovering flicks you might not otherwise have considered watching.Read full review »
