Really interesting except when it gets too political
I discovered Mr. Morell on the Spycast podcast- it was great listening to him relay his experiences in intelligence across presidencies and many historic events. His Intelligence Matters podcasts are interesting and informative. My only knock is the few times where his politics becomes too overt. The episode with Laura Rosenberger was interesting, until she began to describe why Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election; both her and Morell went down this self-aggrandizing rabbit hole all the way back to the "vast right wing conspiracy." The fact of the matter is, Clinton lost because she was a flawed candidate with a shady past that many people distrust, and she ran a weak campaign that ignored the fly over midwest in states like Wisconsin and Michigan. The fact that she was beat out by the current flawed clownish caricature only points to how bad she was, and how many people don't like or trust her. In contrast the episode with Obama Chief of Staff Denis McDonough changed my mind in many respects about what I consider to be some of the follies of the Obama presidency--great episode. Mr. Morell, stick to the inspiring stories of intel officers doing their thing, and stay away from the, frankly, boring sport of defending your guy and sniping at the other guy.Read full review »

On global and domestic politics, very educational about the work and the stakes faced by the US intelligence community. Very mind-opening.

Incredibly insightful to hear Dir Morrell and expert guests having such candid conversations on National Security and the IC. Would love to hear some guests from Republican administrations to give the series a more non-partisan flavor, as that is the single most important principle of the...Read full review »
