I was really enjoying Million Dollar Lover and saw that all episodes were available for free listening, but that just changed today when all episodes have moved behind the pay wall. This includes the episodes that I listen to for free earlier. Was this a mistake?

I havent watched the first two seasons but the way the host is biased in this season is insane. Dave has his flaws for sure, but he certainly doesn’t deserve the treatment he is getting from the community and his lover’s daughters. The way the host justifies the things the daughters do to the...Read full review »

Enjoyable until the BBC feels the need to push the vaccine narrative. Not needed in the story

Three episodes into Million Dollar lover and I’m fairly certain that Angela the ‘friend psychologist’ is actually the villain.

Some of the best storytelling in podcasting. I want more from this crew!

I binged the first two seasons and was charging into the next but this 3rd has large chunks of audio missing and the shows just end midway through. It’s a shame - a lot of work went into these and the subject matter is fascinating.

The host is amazing, she asks just the right question at just the right time. This doesn’t feel like an “expose” on unwitting subjects. It’s conversational where the subjects reveal themselves over time. It’s an interesting insight into human behavior, and I went from compassion.and empathy to...Read full review »

Sue Mitchell is great, a balanced view and investigation. You can easily fall either side of the argument depending on the latest information. Ultimately you make you’re own mind up, but I think any child in Carolyn’s daughter’s position would feel exactly the same.

Great story telling with a human touch and element to it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the podcast but found myself feeling very agitated listening to it. What a bunch of whackos! The next door neighbour, Sue, is particularly irritating. What a nosey, interferring woman. It just shows how people can be manipulated so easily. I’m pretty sure I would behave in a...Read full review »

This podcast is beautifully written and delivered , it has it all , is sad it’s raw it’s honest and gripping and it’s a story that will resonate with a part of all of our lives in some way

I really enjoyed this podcast that was presented in a very evenhanded way. As the story unfolded you weren’t sure what was going to happen, but you knew it was probably not going to end well.
YancoGlen via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/30/23
The presenter’s personal relationship with Dave clouds her judgement. I couldn’t believe some of the conclusions she drew about this abusive con man. Poor Caroline was stuck between an abuser and two greedy daughters.
MaggieeeeeTeeeee via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/21/23
Sue was an incredible narrator and storyteller. I don’t want to give too much away but it’s such a gift to be able to bring this story and all the ever complicated relationships to light. I’m sad it’s over!

I only found this show in late 2023 and am listening in order while waiting for all of Million Dollar Lover to be released. Wow, Tunnel 29 is so gripping. I binged it all in one day!

Incredible. I still can’t decide if Dave was a villain or if he loved her. Her daughters not letting them say goodbye makes me really sad.

Is it too early to call this the surprise podcast of the year? Wonderfully paced, characters and a story with so many layers. I hadn’t heard of this podcast and was recommended to me and loved it. Everyone I have recommended it to seems to think it’s brilliant.

Early seasons were well-made investigative journalism but the current season, Million Dollar Lover, is just awful. The host is amateurish, unprofessional, and disrespectful to both the individuals she’s talking to and the seriousness of the subject matter. Zero research or investigation was done...Read full review »

I’ve listened to many podcasts over the years but never have I listened to one where my jaw was constantly open in astonishment. The unfolding story, expertly narrated by Mitchell, follows the antics of David foute. It reminded me very much of the Netflix series “Tiger King” You start off...Read full review »

This is possibly one of the best podcasts I have listened to. The range of subjects this covers in a sensitive and emotive way got me hooked straight away. The recordings and music choices are perfectly matched, bringing me on a journey. I might have to visit Cayucos myself! I can’t wait to see...Read full review »

This review is for Million Dollar Lover. This a 5 star must listen podcast if you like excellent storytelling and interesting characters, reminds me of SERIAL S-town in the way it’s told….been looking out for something as good as that podcast for years and now I’ve found it!

I subscribed to this pod a few years back for the Ratline series which was fantastic. Since then it seems to appear at random (nothing for over a year then suddenly we get three series in a few months), and is very inconsistent. How do we go from K-pop to techbros trying to be immortal, to a...Read full review »

Waited a few episodes for anything intriguing to happen but instead what we have is a set of unremarkable though in some cases fairly shoddy people doing ordinary things like falling in love in non-perfect relationships or sacrificing their mother for the sake of money. No matter how ominous the...Read full review »

“there are so many homeless people in America that the wealthy can no longer avoid contact with them” sounds like the beginning of a Donald Trump rally.

How stupid could this old lady be?! The fact that she “goes looking for him at the local bar” when he doesn’t come home on time, like she’s a clingy teenager. Listening to him tell his friends, how he won’t have to work ever again, now she’s leaving him one of her properties is so sickening…like...Read full review »

2 stars just for the high quality story telling the BBC is known for. Otherwise the Million Dollar Lover Series of this podcast is possibly the most unethical podcast and reporting I have ever heard associated with the BBC. This man Dave Foute is shown in the podcast as a degenerate criminal...Read full review »

A really interesting topic but it could have been three 30 min episodes rather than 10 15min episodes with lots of repetition. Each 15 min episode has about 5 mins of actual content.

I absolutely love this show and so far it has brought outstanding stories and amazing direction. However, season 6 simply doesn’t merit the title “intrigue”. It’s bland, buzzy and basic and belongs in the YouTube bin of Vox and similar bite sized documentaries. Why this was chosen for this...Read full review »

This show just gets worse by the season. Why are the episodes 10 minutes long with 3 minutes of intros and extros not to mention the ads? If you can't make a good 30-60 minutes of content like normal podcasts then don't release them as frequently. And cut the repetitions in the beginning...Read full review »

This is a con to lure you into subscribing. I thought the BBC was an ethical organisation, I was wrong and now I’m having trouble unsubscribing. I will never listen to any of your rubbish again and I will tell all my colleagues to do the same. You are a disgrace.

Classic BBC reporting: Thorough, engaging and well laid out. Great job!

What this show completely evades is the issue of prospective technology being available to an uberclass of wealthy, greedy megalomaniacs. Best outcome by their standards? Immortal rulers lording it over enslaved mortals: even a less pretty picture than their current machinations.

This is just a review for this K-pop podcast. (Tunnel 29 was 5 stars, amazing) This one is grindingly slow, repetitive and simplistic. It seems like the presenter is on half speed and been told to only use 200 key words. The story could be interesting, but it feels very 2D.

Too much repetitive teenage hyperbole. It’s almost like the presenter is a teenage fan.

From the very first words, I was hooked. Helena Merrimen’s reading is clear, versed and incredibly passionate. I really like this series. The story is told quickly but the characters are developed. I have studied east asia history / languages my whole life (parents idea) and so the stories are fun to hear from BBC perspective.
