The Aslans of Radio Will Return us to Narnia
I know I’m not going to be able to do these two reporters credit, but I’m a huge fan of Lulu Miller and Alix Spiegel, so I just want to give some perspective. Alix is one of the founding producers from TAL who, among other stories, produced the brilliant Psychopath Test episode, which was funny (Jon Ronson read a chapter from his book by the same name), informative, and provocative. In pieces where she dips into the personal, something that contributors to 99% Invisible Sean Cole and Wire Tap’s Johnny Goldstein do incredibly well, she creates these amazing gems like Who’s Canadian? (one of the early episodes of TAL) and 81 Words (an in-depth exploration into her grandfather’s contribution to change the definition of homosexuality in the DSM). Lulu Miller is one of the funniest, quirkiest, most creative producers in radio—her signature stories are these tiny cosmic dramas condensed into an act, like the love story for a man with prosopagnosia. If you need an example of what she’s capable of when she’s given free reign, check out Soul Patch, which is the most incredible carousel of uplifting, weird, haunting stories you’ll get in an hour’s worth of radio. So excited!

I totally agree with apiary on the flaws of the first piece about therapy. Their completely inaccurate summaries of the facets of mental health care and modern day mental health practices and techniques were absolutely appalling to me - that an NPR show would get away with so little research and...Read full review »

I think you ladies have a challenge on your hands. I listened to the preview on Radio Lab about Paige, and although interesting, I think pulling together invisible or maybe even secrets for a radio show will be hard. I loved the show, and subscribed. I can't wait for next one... Good...Read full review »
