Intuitive eating is another beautiful term that has been swept into the hands of diet culture and misrepresented by many on many social media platforms. The consistent manipulation and misrepresentations of terms such as ‘intuitive eater’ or ‘intuitive eating’ can make it even more difficult for someone suffering from an eating disorder to be able to recover as what they are led to believe is ‘intuitive’ is another creative way of hiding a set of rules governing choices around food.
