“Season 1 was great, and I'm hoping Beverley Wang and her team get to produce a Season 2 of the podcast (I'm looking at you Radio National...) For me personally, there are a few things I have in common with the host and more generally with the experience of racism: I'm Canadian, like Beverley, although I'm of mixed race - Chinese (my father was of Chinese descent, though born in the then British colony of Trinidad and Tobago in the Carribean) and white (my mother is Canadian, of Anglo-Scottish descent), and at the time I was born in the mid-1950s mixed race marriages and kids were anything but common in Canada, as I presume was the case throughout most of the British Commonwealth countries including Australia. The show presents a frank and open discussion of a topic that is still a touchy and difficult one to engage people in, and It's Not A Race does an excellent job of handling it with honesty, sensitivity, and a requisite dose of humour. Definitely recommend listening to it.”Read full review »
