Enjoyable but...
I have been following the podcast but doing the order a bit differently since I am rediscovering the films chronologically. The hosts are obviously crazy about the Bond films and it is really fun when they point out plot inconsistencies or just weird ideas the film people had. Having not seen it for many years I was surprised at how excellent "From Russia with Love" was and how much the subsequent films diverged much more into fantasy. I was quite disappointed with the "Goldfinger" episode, as were many other listeners, since the guests were determined not to be helpful right from the beginning. Yes, the Bond series is misogynistic often (sometimes hilariously badly so) but we all know that so having guests whose viewpoint did not go beyond that made for a pretty boring program. It was made worse by the faults that occur often in the podcast, which really needs a firm hand by a producer. The hosts spend an inordinate amount of time laughing at each other and the podcast (which really should be an hour max) meanders off in all directions. For example, a ridiculous amount of time was spent by the group talking about cocktails they liked/disliked personally during the "Goldfinger" episode. Boring boring boring. On the other hand, there is a lot of good stuff and thanks to this podcast I was able to hear Johnny Cash's dreadful proposed theme for "Thunderball." Unfortunately due to the podcast I had to watch "Thunderball" itself, a genuinely dull action film. A really good podcast concept but please tighten it up!Read full review »

Matt and Matt are great, not even a big bond fan, and it's still a great listen..Read full review »
