The reader has good enunciation, but she's not very engaging. The dialogue sounds just like the narration-- flat. And her pronunciation is truly dreadful. Not just the French, but a lot of the English names, as well. I couldn't stand it for long. Yes, it's free, but I'd pay for a better version.

I've always love this story. Bronte is quite superior to Austen in her storytelling and I believe this is the best reader I've found. There are some mispronunciations and she's not as lively in the beginning but her voice sounds the part and its very believable as opposed to others where the...Read full review »

This Reader did an Excellent job. The best movie for me is the one with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson 2006 Masterpiece Theatre. I saw each imagine in my mind as she narrated. Wonderful job Ms.Eland ! Thank You

This a a serviceable reading, and you can't beat free. However, Amanda Eland has annoying tendency to mispronounce words and names including "St. John" (she says Saint Jaymz), "Hindustani," "Ferndean," and any foreign word or phrase that pops up. One must wonder if one she was prepared to...Read full review »

The French is very jarring - and it makes me wince a little every time she says "Saint John" instead of "Sinjin". A review of French and UK pronunciation would have been helpful - nevertheless, the rest of the reading is great and I enjoyed it quite a lot.

Ouch, the french reading was....tres mal. I'd recommend the narrator to research french or the accent before reading on air. Overall a nice reading, but the french was difficult to listen to and took the listener out of the story.
