Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo have developed a superb double act: Simon plays the straight guy to Mark's superlative rants. Mr Mayo, who probably knows a great deal more than he lets on, lights the blue touch paper and then retires to let us hear Dr Kermode's very intelligent and passionate views on current film. Over several months of listening the recurrent themes, such as Mark's unrequited love for Richard Gere, and his loathing of P*****s of the C*******n, become familiar and even funnier. It is hard to believe this is all unscripted; sensible, clever and very BBC. The Friday afternoon timing is ridiculous but excused now that we have podcasts. My only must-have podcast.Read full review »
