I grew up in Starkville and still have close ties to the community I am proud to say I call home. I did not know Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Crigler well. My father’s barber and beauty salon (Synnott’s Barber & Beauty Shop) was across the street from Mrs. Crigler’s home. Mrs. Crigler was a weekly...Read full review »

My husband and I were in our mid-twenties in 1990 and lived two doors down from where this happened. We were scared half to death because no one knew who did this horrible thing. We saw the police cars outside the night it happened. So sad. Just a horrific murder that has stayed with me for all...Read full review »

Interesting and sad. So sorry for your loss. I live in a blue state and crime is horrible despite using familial DNA. DA’s in LA and SF are soft on crime so there is some irony to what your guest in episode 6 talks about. While it’s fabulous to see cases being solved and the correct person being...Read full review »

I am so glad to have come across this podcast. What an incredible story! I especially loved hearing from Betty’s namesake and the power behind her name. I can relate to that personally. My reason for 4 stars is because the ads were pretty repetitive and disruptive to the play; I’m used to ads,...Read full review »

Was keeping my interest until ep 6, where, just like everything else in the US, right now, it is taken political….. consequences of familial dba…. How about tell the story without 45 min of propaganda. Also stop saying, ‘let’s take a quick break’ we can’t see u… there are no commercials…. You...Read full review »

It is heartbreaking to hear what y’all are going through but I must say you did a fantastic job with your podcast. Oh and I adore Sgt. Lott!! If only every single police officer was like him, we’d have it good wouldn’t we? Amazing officer!

I like the focus on the story of the victim’s lives not the gruesome details of their murder

I only recently heard about this podcast a few days ago and binged both seasons. It is so well put together and throughly investigated. My heart breaks for the families involved and I pray they have all found a way to make some type of peace with losing their loved ones to murder. Closure is a...Read full review »

I listened to season 1, so very good. Couldn’t wait till you started season 2. You turned me onto Truth and Justice with Bob Ruff. I love that as well.

Jason & Team, I am really enjoying the podcast. You’ve done a great job bring Betty & Kathryn to life I don’t know why anyone would say they found you disingenuous. I couldn’t disagree more. I definitely feel how much you you loved your Grandma Betty. I can’t wait to find out what happens.

I’m so sorry for your loss. That being said, this is more of a tribute/personal blog that’s miscategorized as “news/politics” made by an amateur musician. This guy talks about himself and showcases his white savior complex more than he does about the case.

Skip the preproduction stuff. Listen to episode one, skip all the pointless Q&A’s, try to make it through episode 2, fall asleep, realize every episode is a repeat of the first, then remove it from your library. Listen, the production quality is great. But the host tends to make the story...Read full review »

Narrator is not genuine. Using a terrible incident to create a podcast that goes no where. Fake crying and fake laughing. Very very rehearsed. Way too many ads and corny over dramatic music

Ugh...waste of my time! Slow, painful to listen to. Especially the policeman was a horrible episode. He sounded like someone’s crazy cousin describing a cop show.

Repetitively covers information, including gruesome details for apparently no reason other than filling time. Nope.

I’m not convinced by the narrator’s intentions, it kind of feels like this guy is milking a family tragedy to make a podcast

In the following months and years changed our lives forever. My most important job was to keep quiet & look my best. I still feel that I haven’t gone thru all of the stages of grief. I’m in therapy now and am hopefully closer to peace. He died in 1972. Time to get it out of me.

Sooooo the first episode was semi interesting but then the rest of the episodes will put you to sleep. All of the episodes could have been fit in one to two episodes. There is a lot of recycled material. The crime is not explained well and suspects are never fleshed out or discussed. Stumbled upon the podcast through a Thistle Farms IG post. Really loving it and just binged all the episodes on a short road trip. Jason, I love the story, you have me hooked. I want to help—but you need to keep episodes coming on a more regular basis. I know you’re working on this in real time, but if you want to keep us interested, jump in to digging and putting out shows.

I'm having a hard time listening to this podcast because it's far to much time between episodes. True crime podcasts always make you think about the people who were left behind when these ordeals occur. Update: was very promising but now I see it’s way more fluff than substance. The podcaster says he was criticized for being disingenuous. Halfway through episode 2 and thinking - why is this all a recap of the first episode?
