A heavy focus on first world injustices
While I love Ingrid and have been a fan of hers since she used to record in the blue bedroom, I have mixed feelings about this podcast. I love that she's about equality. We all should be, heck, it's 2016 and unfortunately we aren't there yet, but it's great that she's using her platform to start discussions not only on her channel, but now on this podcast. Initially, I was very excited about it because I love that in her videos she tries to be very thoughtful and encourages philosophical thought about why society is the way it is. But all we ever hear from her is gender, gender, and gender. I get that it's an issue. But there are so many other important issues that deserve attention as well. What about race? Class? Healthcare? If you're going to be an advocate for equality, isn't it as equally important to talk about how we should turn our conversations on the parental leave programs in different countries vs our own? Or, police brutality? Or how about ANYTHING regarding the disaster of a campaigning season we are having? Aren't those topics just as important as the multiple speeches Ingrid's fans have heard about binaries and gender issues? Only to come here and get more of the same? I guess what I'm saying is while I totally understand that this podcast is still young, the possibility that we're going to get more than just a candy coating of a very specific section of social injustice is bleak. From someone that really enjoys that Ingrid tries to promote thoughtfulness, I would like for this podcast to be a place where she can expand on more than just first world injustices.Read full review »
