Excellent nutrition for the mind
LNL is a challenging, stimulating radio show in interview format, in which Phillip Adams - witty, intelligent, and with vast understanding of the topics addressed - interviews experts from around the world about Big Ideas. His show is a joy intellectually - in a world where most issues are oversimplified by the media, Phillip takes both us and his interviewees deeply and with discipline into their topic. Issues are covered respectfully and in depth. The listener often recieves an excellent education not only in current affairs and politics -- a main focus of the program - but in history, literature, ecology, psychology, and the life stories of interesting people. A privilege to listen to, and now to carry around in your pod. (A word of explanation: Phillip refers to his listeners as "Gladies," having felt for years that there was one person only listening, a woman called Gladys. Now that he realizes there's a legion of us, collectively LNL listeners are Gladies... or now Poddies, for obvious reaons.) Enjoy.Read full review »

that has declined, and now we're left with Adams rudely interrupting his guests, and his misogyny showing (even on International Womens' Day!).Read full review »

Or you might find yourself like I was last night, completely engrossed on the ferry listening to the Cromwell episode, and miss your stop, and face an additional 30 minutes walk home. First world problems, I know, but at least I had LNL to accompany me on the walk.

LNL is painful in that it reminds us how good radio can be, but often isn't. Well done.Read full review »
