LGM Podcast: Remembering Robbie Robertson
Listen now
Description
As I mentioned Monday, our latest podcast explores the legacy of Robbie Robertson. Elizabeth, Rob and I look at a lot of aspects of Robbie’s career — the Band’s catalog, his modest (really) but brilliant guitar, his very entertaining but not-so-modest memoir, the Levon-Robbie wars, and the affection Rob and I still have for Robbie’s CanCon classic first Geffen solo album. Elizabeth not only agrees with my radical-on-Twitter position that songwriting credits should generally go to the person who wrote the song rather than the guy whose bar anecdote vaguely inspired some of the lyrics, but goes further in defending the songwriter’s prerogative in what I thought was a fascinating discussion. And we also talk about The Paranoid Style’s new single and forthcoming album. I will have a couple of follow-up posts adding some relevant links, etc. to our discussion. But enjoy in the meantime! Transcript is here. The LGM podcast is now available from a variety of corporate overlords, so please perform freedom by making your consumer choice. We would very much appreciate reviews, whether of the thoughtful written variety or just by clicking on the appropriate star. The podcast is time-consuming and expensive, so also contemplate tossing a nickel in the jar. * Apple Podcasts * Android * Google Podcasts * Podchaser * Podcast Index * Subscribe by E-mail * Audible * Amazon Music
