Racial strains run high as the Summer of 1919 became known as the Bloody Summer. Meanwhile, Tangy Mae has finally arrived in Mississippi and pays Lennie Gray, a friendly visit but discovers that her best friend and cousin is brokenhearted and fighting feelings of hopelessness.
