However, The Blues Man has news about what’s going on in the world outside of Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, and that could change everything. Lennie Gray wants to know even though Curly insists on living in isolation and unawareness.

Curly is angry and blames God for the loss of Tommie while Lennie Gray attempts to comfort his tortured soul. Meanwhile, Mr. Bettis surprises Curly and Lennie Gray with a visit and news about a history-making event that took place.

Racial strains run high as the Summer of 1919 became known as the Bloody Summer. Meanwhile, Tangy Mae has finally arrived in Mississippi and pays Lennie Gray, a friendly visit but discovers that her best friend and cousin is brokenhearted and fighting feelings of hopelessness. When Tangy Mae finds out why she does her best to cheer Lennie Gray up.
