Enjoyed but wish Dr. didn’t use stigmatizing language
I just listened to the Eating Disorders episode and I feel like I do have a better understanding of EDs. My only complaint is that she kept saying ‘anorexic patient’ or ‘bulimic patient’ instead of being person centered first. Patients aren’t defined by their diagnosis and the more we use terms like addict, alcoholic, anorexic, the more we are feeding into a culture of stigma regarding mental health. I hope to see in future episodes that she instead uses person centered language and terms such as ‘patients challenged by anorexia’.
