“I'm an American who's spent a lot of time the past couple of years learning Hungarian in Szeged, Budapest and Kolozsvár. But, as many non-native speakers soon learn, Hungarian can be a tricky language. If you're stuck in a place with no Hungarians, it's easy to slip out of practice. Steve and Györgyi's podcast is really great for keeping the vibe alive. I'm happy to say that my Hungarian's good enough now that these lessons are really easy, but they still serve as great practice for pronunciation and as a reminder of those shaky early days encountering Hungarian's mind-blowing grammatical concepts. Steve and Györgyi seem like really nice people too; the lessons are low-key and pressure-free. One of the big problems in Hungarian is the seeming need to introduce complex grammar early on . . . as one of my friends said, "It's like you can't say *anything* in Hungarian until you know *everything!* They've obviously worked out the lessons in such a way as to stave this off to a reasonable extent, without the dialogues becoming stilted. Györgyi's accent is adorable, and I like the goofy dichotomy of Steve's earnestness with Györgyi's enthusiasm. I highly recommend this series of lessons.”
