This podcast is wonderful! My father and his three brothers all fought in WWII. I never heard any of them speak of it and I stupidly never asked. They are all dead now and unfortunately my questions fall on deaf ears. This podcast gives me a little peak into their worlds during the war. Thank you

I just found this podcast by accident. I listened and cried and laughed and was fascinated by these people and their experience. The voice actors were amazing, I cannot say a bad thing about this podcast. It has been a breath of fresh air.

Takes you into the hearts of a loving couple separated by one, reporting about the home and war fronts. Such a lovely homage to the host’s grandparents.

I have been listening to WWII podcasts almost every night for 4 years and this is my favorite WWII podcast to date. Thanks to every person who contributed to the making of this podcast and especially to the family members who shared this treasure!

This is the first podcast review I’ve ever written and quite possibly the last! But I had to comment on how much I LOVED listening to this series. It made me laugh, cry & at times hold my breath waiting to hear what was about to happen next. What an inspiring couple. They prove that even in...Read full review »

I am currently listening to this series while taking my daily walk in the Kent countryside during lockdown. Olga and Cyril were similar ages to my Grandparents - my Grandad was in the RASC attached to the 8th army. Captured in Tobruk Jan 42 and ended up in various POW camps including Lamsdorf...Read full review »

I absolutely love this podcast- it’s engaging, romantic, heartfelt and just the perfect thing to listen to on the hammock, fishing by the lake or going on a car ride. My only regret is it’s probably the only of its kind, oh how I wish there were more! Definitely worth downloading.

How fantastic for the family to find these letters after hearing nothing about their experiences of war until their passing. The narration really brought these letters to life. A great idea to bring them to life for all to experience.

Listening to Cyril and Olga transports you back to the reality of life during WW2. As a devourer (is that a word?) of history, this well crafted, intimate glimpse into the life of this endearing couple is captivating. The familial insights are well placed and lend a flavor that is only attributable to their personal knowledge. Recommended to others over and over and over...

Humanises the Second World War in a beautiful way. Just a generation or two separated from the war, it’s easy to forget just how all-encompassing it was. And, that it was fought and intimately felt by millions of ordinary people around the world.
p_sea via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/24/19
Was recommended to me by the”They Walk Among Us” podcast. So happy to subscribe. The letters are very moving. It gives us a glimpse into the lives of two ordinary people living through extraordinarily times.

My thanks to the family for allowing these to be shared. Beautifully written letters, sensitively read and produced. The listener is captivated by the imagery and transported back to a time when letter writing was such a precious means of communication. The podcast responsibly shares these letters with the grace and elegance with which they were written.

A moving account of two ‘ordinary’ people whose words of love and encouragement to each other sustained a marriage during wartime. Today, their letters demonstrate a deep humanity and hopefulness we could all use a little more of.

It’s so easy to forget what people went through during WW2. The emotional toll of being separated so early in your marriage must have been tough to navigate. Well done to the family for making this happen.
