Robert Evan’s & BTB brought me here. The topics are all new to me and fascinating at that. Mr. Kassabian’s experiences in Armenia have prompted me to learn more about that nation.

For every hour there is 5 minutes of narrative content and 55 minutes of unfunny irrelevant Dennis Milleresque analogy joke like things.

This is a well-delivered show, with good information and storytelling about the ridiculous side of military history, but it would be better if Nate could go five minutes without talking about himself. At this point, you could piece together a multi-volume biography from the sheer amount of time...Read full review »

Like, one of the hosts who like inserts “like” into like every sentence like way too many like times. I really enjoy the show except for that one glaring, annoying verbal tics.

My older brother showed me this podcast last June and I’ve been listening since I am still in middle school so I don’t have free time but I always listen on the way to the bus stop and on the bus

Sad
I was excited to listen to this podcast, but soon discovered it is very erroneous and problematic. It is apparent the hosts do little research and supplement this with subjective opinions stated as fact. I appreciate differing perspectives and long to digest them through an academic lens, however...Read full review »

Going through this show’s backlog as I nurse my baby; interesting topics from a variety of eras from ancient to medieval to modern that seem well sourced; the hosts are likeable and the intro banter is not bad at all. Love that there’s no ads, hope to donate to the patreon going forward.

Absolutely love this podcast. Joe and his co hosts really make history interesting. All the episodes I’ve listened to so far are well written and researched but also conveyed with a quirky sense of humour and wit. I’ve always loved history but I was never too interested in war/battles and this...Read full review »

This podcast is everything that’s intellectually wrong (and right) with the American military, but pointed in a different direction. Thus, the good outweighs the bad, but the bad is so unnecessary. Conversations about ridiculously tragic military history blend solid research with humor that is...Read full review »

Conscription leads to fragging. Always and forever. My uncle let’s call him Bob was a Marine recon leader. 65-67. 3 Purple Hearts. Just a guess but the thought of fragging uncle Bob was fleeting and suicidal. He and his friends liked camping and hunting. No one made them do it.

Love the podcast, its funny enough but also super interesting. It’s also great to have a host with military experience to get that perspective. 4 stars because Nate interjects with stories far too often, and add very little to the conversation making it hard to follow the story that is trying to...Read full review »

I really wanted to like this podcast, but the host, Joe Kassabian, tries way too hard, coming across as a smug, know-it-all champagne socialist (which I don’t think he is). Perhaps a co-host with a different historical perspective could control Kassabian’s worst tendencies and help articulate his...Read full review »

This is as sloppy as a high school presentation where the hosts really just want to talk about video games or sports, but are forced to talk about a real subject. This is far more just banter about the hosts and other unrelated things. What little real content that is mixed in has opinions thrown...Read full review »

One guy sounds like he would rage cry if he ever got into a fist fight, the other guy sounds someone who wears “fun hats” when he goes out to bars. They both sound like they have a deep passion for debating film theories. I guess some people are like that, and that’s ok.

these guys (always guys for some reason) absolutely nail their task. When they do, it is very, very good.

Love the show. Joe has a great skill at writing history in an entertaining no nonsense fashion, with speckles of nonsense. Well done with great topics Also I am an Armenian American so his perspective is relatable for me

Well worth a listen, and hadn’t left a review but after the Troubles episodes it was worth leaving one. Massive focus is given to Bloody Sunday which is only right, but the Irish presenter’s spin never really gets across the murderous IRA bombing (and other methods) campaign on the UK mainland....Read full review »

I came here through “It Can Happen Here”; this podcast would be if “The Dollop” and “Last Podcast on the Left” had a child.

Hi, I’m a 10 year old military history buff. I love your podcast and think you cover the battles well. But it would be nice if you could swear a little less. Thank you!

I’m super far behind… around episode 80, but I am a huge fan and I will definitely be listening to all of the episodes.

One of my favorite shows until Liam became a host, which was a mess of know it all, whinyness, and obnoxiousness. Had to stop listening when he became a full time host. Since beginning of 2023, we’ve been Liam free and it’s back to form - minus Nick (rip).

Host and guests are amusing, stories are interesting and sometimes depressing. Could not tell you what happened in any episode and still know nothing about military logistics/strategy. Would recommend.

So, I do overall really like this podcast. The topics covered are very interesting and the hosts have insightful things to say. What more could you ask for? Excellent information, well-researched and presented in a very accessible manner. Great chemistry between the host and producers, a few in-jokes you will quickly pick up on. The politics are just how I like them - left of center, anti-fascist/anti-homophobic,...Read full review »

I’m listening to the podcast on the Nez Pierce massacre and I spent 11 minutes before getting into the content. There was at least 5 minutes saying America is founded on genocide, that America as “proto-fascist” and specifically referred to a genocide occurring in Florida and Texas. Lots of gallows humor and hilariously catastrophic bad decisions. Fascinating, entertaining, and enlightening at the same time. Take a shot every time the phrase “…and then things got worse!”, empty the whole glass at mentions of Corpse Infrastructure.

Would have been five stars, but the new batch of co-hosts dominate the show in the worst possible ways. I don’t mind the occasional visitor from any other podcasts, but I don’t listen to History through Tattoos or What a Way to Die for a reason - the hosts. Joe, please find a new set of detached...Read full review »

Consistently funny and informative. Unlike most history podcasts, the host does actual research instead of dramatically reading wikipedia.
