“Why is the host on a first name basis with the accused? The honky tonk information guy from Sumter is a classic southern trope/stereotype. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with that (there isn’t), just an observation. The problem is his embrace of “faith” in his official role as a public servant. The host’s endorsement of that position is not a good look for the show. Overall (and in addition to the initial points), this show seems to have slid in quality since its early days. I am specifically focusing on the thoroughness of research and the ability to tell a compelling story. Maybe the case has reached a less interesting point in its chronology. In any case, there is a noticeable decline, IMO.”
