I suggest a reading of Flannery O'Connor or Alice Munro for your experiment for reading four short stories in a row! Great show. The audio has improved.

This is like a book club you can bring with you before picking out a new favorite

An audio breakdown of shorty stories in a concies and fun manner. The hosts of the show have very divergent opnions on storytelling and what is a compleing reading make the show a great listen. The hosts also make you want to read many the stories you listen to review too even when they...Read full review »

Started listening to this show out of curiosity and completely loved the content! Besides just listening you have motivated me to go through my old books and re-read at least a few of them. Thank so much for a great show.

I’m always game for a great podcast about literature. This one is pretty good. They really go in depth to understand the stories. It kind of surprised me that they appear to have met online, and I think that really affects how they interact. I have a feeling that it will smooth itself out later...Read full review »

So this podcast is EXCELLENT. It's about literature but it's not at all snobby. You can listen and enjoy it with or without having read the works they are discussing, and the discussion is casual and very listenable. Love it, subscribing!

This podcast is like a book club in .mp3 form! I'm not much of a reader, but they've driven me to check out some of the stuff they've talked about. Spirited debate, but never argumentative and negative.

The discursive, empty blathering of the ladies such as this gem of an analogy to Hemingway as a brand, not a writer'...you know, like Picasso was like waiting at the DMV back in the day and he made a sketch and so you have to put it in a museum'. mademe wonder if I accidentally wandered into a 10...Read full review »

I definitely disagree with some of their comments, but they are definitely well thought out and there is very interesting, well-flowing discussion.

If you love podcasts and reading, you’ll probably love this podcast.

I thoroughly enjoyed the spirited discussion. At last, a forum for intelligent talk about real literature. But when am I going to find time to listen to all this good stuff? Even though I am late, I would give The Circular Ruins a 5. "[T]he task of molding the incoherent and dizzying stuff...Read full review »

As I watch the show, I want to join in the discussion. It's like belonging to a book club, but with the advantage of not having to read a "whole" book before you can discuss it. The short stories are a great way for anyone even those with very busy schedules to get back into reading. I also love...Read full review »

I'm so glad I caught the inaugural episode of Literary Roadhouse. At the time I came across the link I was busy but decided, "what the heck," and clicked it anyway. I had no idea what to expect and, honestly, did not have high hopes. Just between you and me, I see literary fiction coming, I...Read full review »
