The ascension of Jesus is a weird and little understood story in the Book of Acts. But a closer look at how the disciples understand the ascension helps us realize a major element of the resurrection’s power in our lives.

We all want to hear from God from time to time. Should I take this job? Should I get in or out of a relationship? The Holy Spirit is to guide us into all truth but do we ever really hear from Him? It turns out that we do. Quite a bit. This week we talk about how that usually works.

Sin has a way of taking charge of our lives if we don’t follow the Holy Spirit’s voice. This week, we learn how a youth without having life’s experiences that produces wisdom, was led down a path to destruction. If we are not careful, we could be led down that same path.

When we think about change in our lives, sometimes it can feel overwhelming.But if we decide that we can do it on our own then we leave room for God to help us. But what does that look like? This sermon talks about an advocate that we all have access to if we would let Him help.

It’s hard for us to understand the reason of the cornerstone of our faith. Even those who were there with Him through His ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection struggled with this. Today we celebrate Jesus’ defeat of death and that we have eternal life in Him. He is risen!

Jesus reigns forever and ever and his reign is better than we could possibly imagine. His reign welcomes children, heals and restores outcasts, and befriends and transforms sinners!

Many of us know the parable of the prodigal son. But there are 3 players in the story. This week we talk about how each character shows up in our lives at one time or another. Sometimes all three.

Jesus emphasizes the commitment of our lives required of his followers, stressing that true discipleship commands self-sacrifice and a willingness to prioritize God's kingdom above all else. Temptation can be as small as something that is not a sin, but has the ability to carry us away from God’s will for our lives. This week, Pastor John continues with our journey through Luke where Jesus faed temptation after 40 days in the wilderness and how that relates to our lives today.

Luke does an amazing job of investigating the life of Jesus. In this introduction we learn why he embarked on this journey and what the implications are of Jesus coming to us at a specific time in history.

Jesus imparts wisdom on the significance of aligning our thoughts, empowering us to manage emotions, especially when our physiological responses threaten to overwhelm our senses. Understanding the Bible requires understanding the context and choosing a translation that resonates personally.
