The Colorado Avalanche did pretty much everything the same as Game 1 against the Winnipeg Jets, but added much better goaltending to the equation, and the result was a convincing 5-2 win over the Jets. The series now heads back to Colorado tied up at 1. The Avs used four 2nd period goals, then lock down defense in the 3rd that prevented any Winnipeg comeback attempt. Couple that with a much needed solid performance from Alexandar Georgiev and the Avs looked in command and in control for the...

Game 1 is in the books, Game 2 looms large for the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs liked how they played in Game1, and they feel like if they can duplicate that play they have a great chance of take home ice advantage away and head back to Denver tied at one. It looks like Justus Annunen is still under the weather and might not be available for Game 2, so it looks like Alexandar Georgiev will get another shot in net. Can the Avs rally around him? Who will we be looking at after the game is...

From a casual hockey fan perspective, that was probably an entertaining game. From a Colorado Avalanche point of view it was as frustrating as you could be. The Colorado Avalanche did a lot of good, even great, things in their Game 1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. But once again, goaltending let them down in the 7-6 loss. One has to wonder if the Avalanche let Alexandar Georgiev in net for Game 2. He's clearly not right and hasn't been for weeks. We break it all down! Tune in, subscribe and...

The Colorado Avalanche would have loved to be in the position the Edmonton Oilers were in, where they rested the majority of their top players. But the Avs have not been playing well as of late and they all wanted to get back on track, no matter who their opponent put out on the ice. The Avalanche did just that in a 5-1 win, which could have been a lot worse than that. Four goals in the first, one in the second was all the Avs needed to coast through the 3rd to finish the regular season with...

One more to go until the big games begin! The Edmonton Oilers come to town to faceoff against the Colorado Avalanche that, in the end, won't have much meaning in the standings, but could have a lot of meaning for other reasons. The Avs haven't been playing all that well lately. So how will they handle this game? Will they treat it like any other, go all out and get a winning mentality before the playoffs? Or will they work on specific aspects, make sure nobody gets injured, and see that as a...

We can all agree this is going to be a very challenging series for the Colorado Avalanche in facing the Winnipeg Jets. Not only did the Jets sweep the season series against the Avs, they likely will have the home ice for the series. Does this mean the Avs don't have a chance? Of course not. But where do they need to exploit the Jets? We discuss! Tune in, subscribe and enjoy! Subscribe to our Subtext to talk to us directly! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonavalanche Follow & Subscribe...

The Colorado Avalanche cannot get out of their own way, and this weekend was just about as low as they can get. A huge game on Saturday with seeding on the line vs their first round opponent, the Winnipeg Jets, ended in a 7-0 thumping. A bounce back game on Sunday would have had everyone feeling better. And for two periods we all did. But hockey games are three periods, and that is when it all fell apart against the Vegas Golden Knights. Things are not good for the Avs right now, and you...

Nathan MacKinnon is having a season for the Colorado Avalanche ages, and it brings up a question fans love asking about their teams. Which players are on the Avalanche Mt. Rushmore? Not only is Nathan MacKinnon pushing to get placed next to Avalanche greatness, but Cale Makar is obviously in the mix as well. But if we have two guys possibly entering the mountain, who's coming off of it? Tune in, subscribe and enjoy! Subscribe to our Subtext to talk to us...

The Colorado Avalanche needed to get back on track. And Nathan MacKinnon was just the guy for the job. A four point night, including his 3rd hat trick of the season, lifted the Avs to a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Wild which eliminated the Wild from playoff contention in the process. We break it all down and get into the NHLPA players poll. Tune in subscribe and enjoy! On yesterday's episode, we discussed the never-ending goalie situation with the Colorado Avalanche. After the 7-4 loss to the Dallas Stars Sunday night we can add defensive and penalty kill problems to that list. It's odd to do that with the penalty kill at least. It has been excellent as of late. But it looked dreadful against Dallas. Was it just a blip on the radar or have the Avs been figured out? The defense on the other had has had it's share of ups and downs all season, and Dallas...

No bones about it. The Colorado Avalanche game against the Edmonton Oilers Friday night was one of their worst of the season. We can throw out all the excuses, but none would stick. It was bad. Maybe none worse for goalie Alexandar Georgiev. And because of that people are asking again who should be the starter in net for the post season. The host of Locked on Avalanche are split. The Colorado Avalanche got past the Minnesota Wild 5-2 Thursday night in St. Paul. Justus Annunen came up huge again and saved 44 shots while Jonathan Drouin got beyond the 50 point mark. Mikko Rantanen added not only an empty netter that sealed the game, but it was also his 40th goal of the season. Now the Avs have to turn around and do it all again in Edmonton against the Oilers on Friday. We break it all down! Tune in, subscribe and enjoy! Subscribe to our Subtext to talk to us...

The Colorado Avalanche started and ended their matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets the way you would want the Avs to play against any team, let alone the Blue Jackets. It was the in-between where Columbus cashed in, which was enough to put the Avalanche away, 4-1. Bottom line is the Avs can't lose to a team like Columbus at this stage in the season. But did they play well? The stats say they did. But the stats don't matter much when you don't have two in the standings. We break it all...

The Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers went toe to toe Thursday night, and then let a shoot-out decide the winner. A great game from start to finish saw the Avalanche drop the extra point in the shoot-out, and to add salt in the wound, Nathan MacKinnon's two streaks came to an end, but not without some controversy surrounding an assist he was initially given but was then taken away. There was also a questionable goal from the Rangers that Jared Bednar challenged but was not overturned....

The Colorado Avalanche saw their nine game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night against the Montreal Canadiens. Unexpected to say the least. But Nathan MacKinnon's points streaks roll on. Can they continue with two very good goalies coming up next against the New York Rangers and Nashville Predators? We also discuss the new Justus Annunen contract. It's only a two year deal but with Alexandar Georgiev's contract up after next season, what will next year mean for both Avalanche...

This team is never out of it. Even trailing 4-0 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Colorado Avalanche found a way to get it done. Five straight goals, with the 5th coming in overtime by Jonathan Drouin lifted the Avs to their 9th straight win and they now have the outright lead in the division. Speaking of Drouin, he has been one of the hottest players on the team recently. Is he playing his way out of Colorado, or will he sign a new deal for maybe a little less to stay in what clearly is...

The Colorado Avalanche are on a roll as of late, and you have to feel comfortable about their first matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday night. Columbus is not a playoff team, but who among the potential playoff matchups the Avs could have in round one of the playoffs would be prefer? Do we even have a preference? Or if the Avs finish out the season playing how they have been are we confident no matter what? We also have some fun with a Disney / Pixar move bracket. Who reigns...

Chris MacFarland had a very good trade deadline this year. Maybe he didn't operate at a speed some of the fan base wanted, but it was a moment of "leave this to the professionals" for him and the Colorado Avalanche. A new article in The Athletic sheds some light on not only how he and the Avalanche care to operate, but how he is viewed by his GM counterparts. Spoiler: very well. We also discuss some of the new rules changes that could be on the way in the NHL as the GM's met in Florida to...

The Colorado Avalanche continue to roll in month of March as a 4-3 win over a very game St. Louis Blues team gave the Avs their 7th straight win as well as competing their four game road trip with eight points. Mikko Rantanen lead the way with a hat trick, Nathan MacKinnon kept his points streak alive, and Justus Annunen provided another solid performance. Unfortunately it wasn't all good news for the Avalanche Nation on Tuesday. Former Avalanche forward and member for the 95-96 Stanley Cup...

Colorado Avalanche prospect Nikolai Kovalenko has touched down in Denver and will be joining his new Avalanche teammates very soon. But the question now is what to do with him? The Avs look to complete their four game road trip by winning all four games. They can accomplish that with a win Tuesday night in St. Louis. What can we expect between the two teams where the game has great meaning for both clubs. And it is rumored that the NHL will release a reality style of show on Amazon next...
