It wasn't a great start for Detroit in Columbus as defensive lapses gave the Blue Jackets ample opportunity to take the lead, yet James Reimer denied them all. From there the Red Wings took over, dominating the rest of the game in every zone. Veleno found Gostisbehere for his 1st as a Red Wings, and Larkin and Copp converted on the Power Play. Detroit did not dissapoint its home crowd in the home opener, beating the Lightning 6-4. It was not nearly as close as the score would indicate with the Wings outshooting the Bolts 42-25.
