For a while, it seemed like the Red Wings had run into another brick wall of a goalie in Ilya Sorokin. Despite playing better than their previous 3 outings, and despite the efforts of Ville Husso, the Wings found themselves down 2-0 early in the 3rd. But then they broke through thanks to Daniel Sprong. From there the production began to flow. The reconfigured second line showed up for this one as Compher had a hell of game with the a goal to give the Wings a lead in the 3rd, and the primary...

They looked poised and knew exactly where to be to disrupt any opportunities by Detroit to get something going, whether it be 5v5 or special teams. Joe Veleno did score his 5th goal of the season however, as he remains hot. Islanders tonight, let's hope for a better result. #lgrw

Detroit falls 4-1 to the Jets at LCA, snapping their win streak at 6 games. Detroit's top line of Seider, Walman, Larkin, DeBrincat and Raymond all played very strong, but weren't enough to carry the team. Outside of them, the teams 5v5 play continued to be their kyptonite, as they looked like they were playing on the PK the rest of the time. #lgrw `

The Red Wings win streak has been snapped at 5 games following an OT loss to the Seattle Kraken. Seattle controlled the pace of play at 5v5, but 3 straight power play goals by Gostisbehere (1G,2A), Larkin (1G,2A) and DeBrincat gave the Wings a 3rd period lead. Unfortunatley the Wings couldnt get out of their own away as they fail to close out regulation and OT. #lgrw

It wasn't a great start for Detroit in Columbus as defensive lapses gave the Blue Jackets ample opportunity to take the lead, yet James Reimer denied them all. From there the Red Wings took over, dominating the rest of the game in every zone. Veleno found Gostisbehere for his 1st as a Red Wings, and Larkin and Copp converted on the Power Play. Rasmussen also tallied his 1st of the season! Klim Kostin also leveled Cole Sillinger and and answered the bell against Gudbranson for a classic fight....

Detroit did not dissapoint its home crowd in the home opener, beating the Lightning 6-4. It was not nearly as close as the score would indicate with the Wings outshooting the Bolts 42-25. The top line showed off what it could really do with just incredible forecheck and passing. DeBrincat scored twice, Raymond once, and Larkin with two apples. The only downside to the teams aggresive forecheck was it meant odd-man rushes going back the other way, which the Lightning never once failed to...

Detroit came out fast and aggressive in the 1st period, generating a lot of shots and nearly scored FOUR times. Yet it remained 0-0. In period 2 the Devils woke up and completely overwhelmed a disjointed Red Wings squad. Despite this Detroit hung in there, thanks largely to Husso's efforts. Jack Hughes is unreal. The special teams thrived however though, 2/4 on the PP and 5/6 on the PK. Sprong and DeBrincat scored their firsts as Wings, and Fabbri made it close late. We also address the...

The Detroit Red Wings lost 4-3 in OT to the Toronto Maple Leafs. But that's not a sad thing, Detroit only had a handful of NHLers playing against the Leafs opening night lineup. Simon Edvinsson, Nate Danielson and Jonatan Berggren shined, and both Danielson and Edvinsson might be forcing some tough roster questions on the team. Alex Lyon also played unreal in this game, making big saves against a tough lineup. #lgrw

James Reimer faced 5 penalty kills and plenty of pressure down low and only gave up one goal. It was a messy game for both teams but Detroit made one fewer mistake and stole the game 2-1. JT Compher played solid again driving play on offense and defense for the Red Wings. Sprong netted another goal and is proving he could be a vital piece of the teams depth scoring.
