Gaslit by a book cover
Deeply validating to hear how badly this book has been presented and misunderstood. Read the book and was horrified at the blurb on the book jacket describing it as a ‘love story’, when the text I read was clearly narrated from the point of view of a perpetrator trying to justify and normalise their predation. I am so glad the phenomenon of this weird and gross justification/sexualisation has been examined and unpacked in this podcast. Its good to know I’m not being gaslit by the book cover - good to have it affirmed that this is a story of abuse taken wayyyy out of context and not the “young temptress” narrative that justifies the actions of a predator. Great podcast, subject matter sensitively handled, fascinating discourse.
