Can’t get past the poor audio quality and wooden performances.

Gave this about 3 minutes. Done

Season 1 is good but season 2 is utterly fantastic. A brilliant cast working perfectly with a witty script and building sense of mystery. Some minor flaws are easy to overlook and just add to the underdog charm of the creators. This is everything audio drama podcasting should be.

so first off i LOVE the representation, it actually sounds like how me & my friends interact, including the stuff relating to our identities :) s2’s sound is fine, & I know in a few areas it’s intentionally unintelligible, but there’s a few places that are *just* muffled enough that...Read full review »

OMG one of the negative views talks about “agendas” in episode two. Racism in Jim Crow era is what that user meant. Dang, do not listen to the bad reviews.
thatgirllexee via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/05/21
Season one was okay, season two is sincerely unlistenable.
StickerHogg via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/02/21
I thought this might be a good podcast. It seemed interesting, but by the second episode unnecessary profanity and base subject matter ruined it for me. I want to hear a story, not social agendas.

I accidentally listened to the second season and not the first soooo... Likes: plot was really intriguing Dislikes: the sound volume changed drastically
Anadx98 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/11/20
First season: Far too many ads. Great story though. Second season: No ads, but too many characters to keep track of and a frankly incomprehensible plot. Also, the two main characters were kind of obnoxious and didn’t seem to have the slightest sense of self-preservation. The interlude...Read full review »

The concept of the podcast was fine but listening to this podcast through head phones with the bleeping and speaker taps nearly blew out my ear drum . It’s like listening to censored gangster rap but painful
K-TReeZy via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/03/20
Stopped listening in the first episode when they kept bleeping out the names of fictional entities. Found it irritating.
Jhawkins1971 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/15/20
Bad acting, confusing story, disjointed and unprofessional...pretty sure this was some kind of bad class project that should never have posted.
Me1119778 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/06/19
Impossible to listen to. One person has a very limited range and it ruins the story. She is always ranting. Makes no sense.
GraceOM via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/30/19
Despite some horrible acting, season 1 was pretty good. Season 2 was an absolute, insane nightmare. Not sure what the heck happened.

I feel like I should be compensated for listening to this. What an absolute waste of my time.

Did you know that its possible to write a great script without swearing, every other word?

The Worst fictional podcast I’ve listened to... to date.
JenfromSouth via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/29/19
Didn’t make it past the first few episodes. Seems like about a third of the total runtime per episode was ads. Broke up the story in a way that made it to difficult to listen. I’ve listened to A LOT of podcasts and this one has the most commercials I’ve ever experienced by a wide margin.
enso. via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 08/26/19
I enjoyed it, but there were a lot of characters to keep track of. The story did not go where I expected it to go and I enjoyed that.
Citrus Sunshine via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/23/19
I really loved season one! It was done very well and was great at grabbing my attention and keeping me entertained. I do agree with some of the other reviews in regards to some of the “reading straight from a script” acting and a lot of ads, specifically in episode 3 but I was able to look past...Read full review »

As a fellow audio dramatist, this show is both relatable and inspiring. Lonesome Pine brings a narrative humility alongside the professional grade work. They make us all proud of our medium, and the story tugs at my heart strings and curiousity in equal measure. Do not miss Lonesome Pine!

Ok storyline a few great voices but others sound like they’re reading. Sounds like it was recorded in an empty room.
Yogi's gal via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 08/06/19
Immediately interesting, with a very good premise, but my god the sound editing is very poor, the scene in the cafe in the first episode is barely audible between it dropping out and the overbearing background music.
Master of the Mystic Arts via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/06/19
The story is good and engaging but unfortunately very frequent commercials really takes you out of the story.

Loved season 1-season 2 is annoying- had to quit

Got to episode 4 and it got a little better. Wasn’t a fan of the radio show format, though.

First season: Despite uneven acting and some ridiculously implausible plot twists, the first season manages to captivate with an interesting blend of Appalachia dread and Blair Witch style horror. Second season: Off the rails awful, terrible acting, retchid sound mix only serve to defecate all...Read full review »

Bad voice acting. Bad audio editing. Couldn’t make it through the first episode. You don’t need a constant music soundtrack throughout. Let the writing carry the show, not a cheesy dark piano melody with no real purpose.
ncyaj via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/10/19
S1 creates a wonderfully creepy atmosphere and plays with the horror trope of perfect town/community that is hiding something dark. S2 lost the tone and focus of S1. It feels a bit too silly and over the top at times. If there is a S3, I’ll check back in to see if it is like S1, but I’m giving up...Read full review »

Very captivating and entertaining

This is okay. It’s not the best but isn’t the worst. The number is ads is the deal-breaker for me. In season one episode three there are two ads separated by less than two minutes of content. I understand the need for advertisement, but that’s pushing it.
SirPapsAlot via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/20/19
Enjoying it so far, seems a little different. I like the theme song as well.

This is the perfect podcast to listen to on a rainy day. Only on S2E3 right now and glad that season 2 is continuing the excellent precedent set by season 1. Excited for more!
Pizzagiraffeman via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/22/19
Season 2 is incoherent and terrible. A horrible piece of work. My opinion of Season 1 is the complete opposite. Listen to it. Just stop there. I’m so angry they mutilated a wonderful plot.

It took me a while to get into LP but it’s well it. Very few podcasts can make me literally saying “I didn’t see that coming”.

One episode in and loving this format. The dialogue is so natural and really funny. Can’t wait to keep listening.

LPP is trying for some new approaches in a crowded field of horror/mystery-style audio-dramas. "Found footage," radio-style, interview-style, all in service of building a town narrative rather than perhaps a plot-forward narrative from season one to this new season. Worth adding to your...Read full review »

Good podcast. I don’t understand why you go from telling a story one way and the change it up. The first season was great. The second 1 with the goofy radio thing? There’s already a better show doing the radio thing. It’s called King Falls Am!!
Sismo52 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/27/19
This was crazy good, with a lot of twists and turns. However, the acting could be incredibly bad sometimes.

I’m enjoying the story, but I can’t finish the podcast because the voice acting is pretty bad. Very flat and unexciting.
Hellooooookitty via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/10/19
I gave it 5 stars bc the premise and mythology through episode 3 seems like it will be good. The narrator is great. Constructive criticism time...it’s painfully obvious that the main characters and interview characters are reading directly off a script during the recording, to the point where you...Read full review »
