Ethically ambiguous final episode
Setting aside the quality of the podcast itself, which is wonderful from a technical standpoint (especially the music and sound design!), I feel the need to echo some of the other negative reviews I’ve read, specifically regarding the last episode of season 2. There are right and wrong ways to report on true crime, and this is definitely in the latter category. After listening to the whole season, I find it impossible to excuse what I can only interpret as blatant disregard for the surviving family members; what an abuse of power to refute their beliefs so casually and psychoanalyze them in a way that provides no platform for rebuttal. Moreover, the audience is perfectly capable of coming to their own conclusions on the veracity of an accused person’s claims. Guilty or not, this is simply irresponsible journalism in service of the dramatic—the facts of the case, presented correctly, would have been compelling enough.

The podcast was interesting but then slowed to a halt. I decided to read the article this is based on and, unfortunately, I don't see an ending coming.Read full review »
