A well-researched and well-sourced story that does something rather unique for a documentary about racism. It embraces the gray areas between opposing points of view. It’s also optimistic! The narrator is exceptional. Five episodes seemed to be the perfect length.

Mispronounced words throughout the episodes. Kihpa, Rebbe, Lubavitcher mispronounced first three episodes. Might be worth paying for, except you have to question question the amount of first hand research research done. Couldn’t have spoken to one Jew without learning the correct pronunciations...Read full review »

This is one of those intriguing stories form contemporary history that is forgotten about outside of where it happened. The writers did a great job including the perspective of both sides. Easy-to-follow and sincere storytelling by the narrator. Loved it!

As a native New Yorker raised in queens. That Jewish ambulance will not help non Jews they will let you bleed to death because they will not taint themselves with non Jewish blood. I once was lost in a Jewish neighborhood and no one would help me or speak to me because I am not Jewish. I was...Read full review »

I appreciated the host’s personal connections to the communities in conflict and how she didn’t seek to simplify it, but to share the variety of opinions. I understand more now than I previously did about the many layers to the conflict and learned so much about the role of the city in the lead...Read full review »

The host, torn between two worlds an struggling with her identity, does a mediocre job producing this revisionist history. Her anti-police rhetoric on full display; she fails to address the root cause of the destructive conflict, and places the blame squarely at the feet of our protectors. “Love...Read full review »

This was a very informative podcast which told a story I’ve never heard of. Although the host did her best to tell an objective story, I somewhat felt her bias in favor of the Jewish community in my opinion

The depth of the research, the profound empathy and heart in the storytelling, the embrace of nuance — I’m so glad THIS is how I’m learning the extensive history of this neighborhood. I’ve been telling everyone I know to listen.

As soon as I saw the advertisement for the podcast I stopped and started to listen since I live in the crown heights community and always wondered what the other side felt. I feel like the opportunity was missed on truly representing the hassidik side of the story and how they feel and live...Read full review »

As a NYer for all my life (I’m in my late 30s), I never knew the full story of what transpired in Crown Heights in 1991. I have family in Crown Heights and spent most of my adolescent life there growing up with my aunts, uncles, and cousins in Crown Heights and I would always ask about the...Read full review »

I’ve already listened to the whole series and was fascinated by it. I learned so much– it was a balanced, interesting, thoughtful, and expansive story. I appreciated how far back the series goes in history to contextualize the riot, and the present. Really great reporting and well told!
