“I'm an Oprah Conniseur. Don't believe there is such a thing? Trust me, I am he, live and in the flesh (lol).
This is, hands down, point blank, end-of-story, the best comprehensive history of The Oprah Show I have ever come across... and believe it or not, there are plenty, spanning pretty much since the show's first season, dozens more published since the show's ending. But none really contain the particular voices in this piece... And, to my knowledge for the first time publically, Oprah and some of her staff go into detail about some serious issues they endured to stay #1. For me to walk away feeling like I've heard Oprah reveal something new is a major feat in and of itself.
Even if you don't care much for Oprah herself, this is a fascinating peek behind the curtain of a great American legend, helping to take away some of the myth, and as a result, a huge phenonmenon almost seems more... relatable. And honest. And after listening to this seamlessly produced podcast, I am left thinking, just as I did while watching her show for all those years: "If she and her staff can do that... I wonder what I can do?"
