Not a podcast for animal lovers
I gave this podcast a 5 star review some time ago. But as someone who works in animal rescue I’m finding the attitude towards animals really upsetting lately. Since Jessie has had a baby there have been a lot of mentions over multiple episodes of how women who have babies can’t also love their dogs as much as they used to. I feel like they’re leading up to Jessie surrendering her dog. Even Holly said in the last episode ‘is the dog outside now?’ As if throwing the dog out would be the done thing once you’ve had a baby. There’s a very dismissive attitude towards animals overall. For example when vegans are mentioned, they are mocked, even though that is really mocking the animals being tortured, not the people who don’t want to fund that. Mia used to speak up for animal rescue but then bought a dog from a breeder. It’s like they are progressive on so many issues but not animal rights. Even though there is a lot of crossover with feminism and animal rights. For example a dairy cow has to have a baby to produce milk. If that baby is male they are then taken away and killed so humans can have the milk. These simple things are never acknowledged. And they are even mocked. Jessie used to be my favourite, but I wonder if having a host who is child free may bring back the balance. It’s feeling like a podcast only for mothers. In particular, mothers who cannot care for anyone but their baby.

I highly recommend this...Read full review »
