Bored, and over it
I’ve listened to this for years now. But I’ve had enough. This ‘what women are actually talking about’ is rubbish and very narrowly conceived and reflects a very specific type of feminism and perspective. That of three white women who all live in the same state. Two of which are in the same family. I’m also sick of the choice of segments and repeating words like “little treats” and “girl …” (dinner, maths). It’s infantilising. Over time the takes have gotten more and more reactionary and less and less considered. Or overlooking of genuine news stories in favour of just talking about fluff. You can always predict where Jessie and especially Mia will land on a topic; Holly is the most interesting and complex and hardest to predict. Holly, please break away and do your own podcast. You actually are the Everywoman people want to listen to. Likewise the Best and Worst has started to get repetitive, and is usually just what’s going on with family dogs or babies, which are updates that are only interesting to those who’s dogs or babies they are and their personal circle, and the Recommendations are consumerist and self-serving (buy this serum! Read one of our articles! Buy one of our books!). For a company that says it’s making life better for women and girls, how about setting up an initiative that actually does that, and use the platform to suggest people do something like make a donation or a call to action of some kind instead of read some opinion piece about TikTok trends in The Atlantic. From a personal perspective beyond the main podcast. 1, when I was a paid subscriber I found the content was just more of the same, and more narrowly coalesced around personal gripes. Often between each other. 2, when I was in the Facebook group it wasn’t a fun place to be, I was bullied and hated it.

Discovered this podcast a month ago and I LOVE it, almost caught up. Love that there are different opinions from the different fantastic minds keeping it loose and interesting and find myself agreeing with one or more. A new addictive girly podcast, keep it up ladies!
