Description
"These girls live in the worst place in the world to be female." My guest on Episode 72 of the Managing Violence Podcast is Mary Stevens from the UK.Mary began karate in 2003 at the late age of 31. Her son was being bullied so she enrolled him and then took the chance to begin herself. She went on to become obsessed with the study of self-protection (separate from karate) and founded her own dojo, Athena School of Karate. Mary is also a project manager and adviser to FairFight, helping to equip vulnerable young women in Varanasi, India, which we will talk about at length. Support people doing world-changing work.
