Unbiased, fact based and great research. There isn’t an angle or predetermined outcome in their writing. This is what real journalism should look like. Hooked into the story from episode 1.

I cannot praise this podcast enough. Story choices are excellent. 1. Compassion for victims 2. Very good structure and continuity of episodes 3. Season one used local musicians and composers (unsure about following seasons as I do not recall mention of it and a Morgantown studio burned) 4....Read full review »

I’ve gone back and forth on my thoughts of this pod. Sometimes with the music I think it’s more Spotify channel then journalistic podcast, other times I think the music fits. Sometimes the content is great and fascinating, and the pod shows all the promise of being one of the greats in this...Read full review »

I’ve been an avid listener of true crime podcasts for 8 years. I’ve heard them all but this Appalachian Mysteria, season 2 has stood out as the most well-composed of them all. The story is fascinating and promotes lively debate with a foggy conclusion. But the most impressive part is the choice...Read full review »

This had been my fave podcast, but S4 has started off horribly. There is no mystery. Just screwed up family, addicts and bad judgement.

This is a wonderful podcast, so well written & narrated. I hope there will be more to come, I keep checking but nothing since May, 6 months ago! I have told many others & they love it too. Anxiously awaiting the next episodes.

The Content and research is very thorough and I would listen to any case they publish . My only criticism is the music interludes and transitions they are so distracting and I hate them. It really distracts from their content .

The podcast team is good and the stories have potential, but the infatuation of playing bad music throughout the podcast almost makes it unlistenable. The music issue along with the terrible editing of Season 1 detracts from the stories.

Season 1 was really great although the sidetrack into the paranormal in the second “bonus” episode briefly ruined what had been a fantastic series up to that point. Fortunately it doesn’t really detract from the overall excellence of the show. A must if you’re a Boomer/Gen-X from WV or SW PA. ...Read full review »

I like the podcast but find the music so annoying

If you got rid of the annoyingly long musical intermissions this would be a 5 :-) Really well researched and presented.

I missed this podcast in 2017, but a lot of us weren’t regulars w/ the Podcast Apps until maybe 2018? It is similar to me having missed the Black Dahlia Murders Podcast, and my reading “Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon” — in the sense that I now have a NEW understanding of the amazing amount of...Read full review »

I didn’t think the victims were as respected as they should be. The puns and jokes are in bad taste. I hope the other seasons will be 100% compassionate to the victims. It would have been humanizing to know more about Morad and Karen and what they had hoped and planned. Maybe that wasn’t possible...Read full review »

Loved all three seasons…. Thank you for an interesting, thoughtful and well researched podcast. I loved in Season 2 that you won your court case to get the 911 call released!! Nice job! I highly recommend!!!!

I love this podcast and I hope you keep putting pods out. Your voices are wonderful too. I really like the original story and the rugged fella from the university that wrote the book on WVU coeds!

I live in Appalachia and had never heard of this case til I stumbled upon this podcast. The narration is fantastic, they give detailed background info, and have interesting interviews with bystanders. Very sad and intriguing story that is told perfectly.

it was pointed out that it could have been a lgbtq hate crime. Well isn’t it fair to say…they were two woman who were dead by the hands of a serial killer. You did a good job overall. I enjoyed each season. BUT I sought out this opportunity to review because I need to tell you how insufferable that Geoff guy is, especially in the way he talks to Sarah. The unfolding of the cases is superb (the creative pace and narrator’s voice), BUT what is equally as good (do I dare say better?) is the music. There’s a lot to like about Season 1. It’s pretty riveting. That said, I think the creators could have done much more to paint a portrait of Mared and Karen as people. This podcast is great! However, it made my stomach turn & blood boil to hear the hosts repeatedly refer to a sexual assault as a “drunken mistake” in season two.
