I always laugh AND learn things
I made my way to this podcast because I love love love sister podcasts (cousin podcasts?) Extra Hot Great and Again with This, and was hand-clappingly delighted at the idea of bringing more Sarah D. Bunting wit and wisdom into my life (and of course, co-host Mark Blankenship is also all things delightful.) I am so very glad I subscribed to MASTAS, because it is consistently pithy, insightful, and funny as the dickens. Mark and Sarah have sharp, original opinions about all the music they unpack, and they analyze a varied, intriguing range of songs. I always walk away feeling like I have learned something (helpful!), and also walk consistently diverted and amused (ditto.) (Their episode where they deconstruct the songwriting of Jewel made me laugh so hard I wept, real and legitimate and copious tears.) The fact that I am also a native of North Jersey, a stone's throw from where Sarah hails (and a part of the world she consistently invokes) is just icing on the cake (though I was relieved to hear a fellow Jerseyian say Springsteen left her cold. Same!) Could not recommend this podcast more--all I want from it is more episodes! (Which, happily, seem forthcoming, hooray.)Read full review »

Love the discussion, the laughs and the 90s nostalgia!

And I love the weird tangents they go out on during their discussions. It makes you feel like you’re sitting in your living room just having fun with a couple of friends. They’re so much fun that even when you completely disagree with them, you have to respect their opinion.
