But wait, there's more conspiracy afoot.
Today, Mid-day and Tech were both missing. A day with no Tech news? I don't believe it. A Cargo Cult Internet start-up is born every minute, in the Pacific Time Zone alone. Did they finally realize that not all Internet companies are tech companies?
And, for months the Tech Report wallpaper was displayed on every Marketplace Podcast, which I first thought was an ironic embarrassment, (that the metadata error shows the allegedly savvy Tech Report's banner), but now suppose David Brancaccio is angling for yet another coup, since his return from PBS. He's like Bill Clinton out of job--abounding with talent, but missing the spotlight.
So careful Kai of former Kings. Work on your "Final Notes." Bad humor exiled the last Tech Report anchor (I suppose) because we are told he left to do comedy--an obviously fabricated opportunity which must have involved painting a hole Bugs Bunny style on a wall.
And, then one day in Mid-June Marketplace Podcasts from iTunes were missing show-labels altogether. Is this the work of disgruntled unpaid interns? Is API which hosts the brilliant and compassionate Brother Prof.

I suspected, and found worse news. while returning from an I-banker party in New York. Just before the break of dawn, I ran into cowed interns standing in line for croissant doughnuts to
feed the over-indulged New York correspondents. The ones who all agree every Friday and displaced the old BSing Texan. I miss his honest post-hoc theories, so he's on my list of people to visit after I make a time-machine. Or should I say, "before I make a time machine?" Fiver for an unemployed copy-editor--must be Ivy League.
I heard from the starving interns living on nothing but martini olives and cronut flakes stolen from the emptied bag, that one of their number found better work making Planet Money T-Shirts at $3 an hour in a Bangladeshi sweatshop near East LA.
"So who is the DRI for podcast labeling and uploading?" I asked the shivering interns, fluent in business English, Mandarin with proper tones, and Portuguese. They all fingered the Lushes.
"They have all week to produce a one hour rerun every other week," one explained from under a crimson sweatshirt. She said she goes to school in Massachusetts, and would be happy to manage the uploads for a living wage.
I say hire her, or anyone else. They are up in the morning anyway with smartphones burning time in line.
Really, what is the story? Is it the lushes
Rico and Brendan mislabeling the podcasts? If so, also, teach them to label fairly, eg "Partial Rerun"when appropriate.”Read full review »
