On the fence… sort of
Whilst purporting to constitute a balanced investigation into these allegations, the show ultimately landed too heavily in support of the accusers. Perhaps because Gaiman decided not to play ball and be interviewed. Spurious suggestions, e.g. that the creation of an NDA to fortify a settlement is akin to acknowledgement of guilt, caused me to question the veracity of the conclusions more generally. In avoiding a thoroughly objective position and focusing on (some) questionable criminal allegations, the show missed an opportunity to more fully explore the complex ethical questions that lie at the heart of the matter. Having said all that, it’s a compelling listen and well produced show.

Really well done podcast. A soft spoken beast of a man, whose abuse has been enabled by lawyers who get corrosive NDAs signed for him at the drop of his trousers. It was still in the first ep that I unfollowed Amanda on social media, so there’s that disappointing side effect as well.

Excellent! Sensitively told and thought provoking. Too bad Gaiman isn’t evolved enough to own his appalling behaviour.

Thank you for being so thoughtful. This has been extremely helpful. Coercive control is subtle and your ability to describe it is impeccable.
