My Favourite Podcast!
Media Indigena has been & continues to be my most anticipated podcast. Rick is a great host & the panelists are academics, experts in their fields & well beyond. This podcast is wise, informative and often funny (which is amazing because the topics are often difficult). They cover a wide range of subjects & current issues - many not covered at all (& definitely not with full comprehension) by mainstream media. Some of the academic concepts & terms are unfamiliar to non-academics like me. But Rick is always careful to see they are explained. So we all have access to some cool, mind expanding ideas from our easy chairs! I’m a senior, a settler, disabled … yet these smart people can get me really engaged and super excited about new concepts or new (to me) ways of looking at issues. Thanks so much for this podcast Rick, Candis, Kim, Brock, Ken, Trina! And guests! I especially love to hear Kim Tallbear speak on sexualities & families. I would like to encourage everyone who has the means - to please contribute to this wonderful podcast through Patreon. This is Rick’s own project, not part of any larger venture. This independence is part of what makes it so great, I think. But also hard to pull off. Let’s do what we can to keep this cool podcast thriving!

Extremely informative, in-depth analysis of all things Indigenous in the Canadian and broader context, all with a flavourful dash of humour.

This podcast is necessary listening for all "Canadians" (i.e. inhabitants of Turtle Island), especially settlers. Harp and his guests offer intelligent, nuanced, well-researched critiques of the country's politics and media (while additionally providing a lot of laughs). This podcast...Read full review »
