Disappointing
Not up to Tortoise's usual standard of investigative journalism. Here was an opportunity to look in depth at some of the issues around EVs, such as range, the state of the public charging network, whether the economic advantages of EVs still hold up with the increase in energy costs, how the carbon footprint of a new EV affects the ecological arguments for changing over to one, where the battery materials come from and at what cost to the environment etc. etc. Instead, all we have had here so far is a determinedly superficial look at a few of the higher end EV's in what seems like a bit of advertorial puff for Octopus Energy. The team met a professional delivery driver at a charging point in episode 2 but completely failed to pursue some very real points he was making about the limitations of these cars. A more thorough examination of the issues around EVs could help people in solving the dilemma consumers face in deciding whether to change to one, but so far this show has not provided much useful input.Read full review »

Mel asks all the questions you have but might feel too scared to voice (as a complete EV newbie!) really enjoying this series, both hilarious and informative
