Description
For some people, having a work schedule that dominates their life is a badge of honor. Our culture praises over-working. Too often, we pay with our health. Many of us want to embrace healthy habits but feel so overwhelmed that we just fall back into old patterns. When life becomes fast paced, it can seem daunting to do anything but nuke a frozen entrée. The truth is that when we take even a few minutes to care for ourselves, some of that sense of exhaustion is relieved. We need simple steps that are realistic to fit into a hectic schedule. One of the most valuable steps we can take is to develop the skill of distinguishing “Urgent” from “Important”. In a world where everything is expected to be done immediately, we pay the price with our sanity and adrenal burnout. One thing that truly does warrant serious attention is our need for sleep. Getting a true night of quality sleep reduces stress and improves health. This week we talk with Jill Weisenberger (http://www.jillweisenberger.com/), author of the book “The Overworked Person’s Guide to Better Nutrition (http://www.jillweisenberger.com/books/)”. Jill offers simple steps you can take to eat well, reduce stress, and improve your health. Tune in as we learn how to better manage the pressures of being overworked. As always, you’ll find lots of recipes, healthy eating, and cooking tips on Chef Tom’s blog, The Confidence Diet (http://www.theconfidencediet.com/).
