“I was excited when I found out about Meta Treks. It's easy for discussions related to franchises to ignore the underlying messages and themes but MT doesn't do that. It does tend to be heavier on the philosophy than on the Trek, so those looking for a lot of Trek talk might be dissatisfied. However, MT successfully uses the universe of Star Trek as a springboard for discussion about different issues of the Star Trek universe and as an introduction to various philosophical terms/concepts. So far the shows have been interesting and enjoyably educational. I especially appreciate both the philosophical and religious backgrounds Mike and Zachary bring to the podcast. The show is informed on the study/theories of various philosophers while also being at least aware of religious beliefs/sensibilities and how they relate to these issues. Star Trek has some great themes worth exploring and makes a great starting place from which to explore these topics. I look forward to future episodes. Thanks for doing the show!”
