The American biochemist Mildred Cohn (1913 - 2009) was a trailblazer for women in science, a tireless researcher whose investigations of enzymatic processes and chemical isotopes extended the boundaries of human knowledge. Born to immigrant parents in New York City, she graduated from Hunter College, and earned her doctorate at Columbia University, mentored by Dr. Harold C. Urey.
