Misconduct implies police misconduct. I don't think homicides can be described as misconduct. This then led me to listen to a case that I found upsetting. Please don't use the term "attention seeking" to describe mental health issues. Indicates a lackbof insight and depth. Tread...Read full review »

Not fond of the show. Also, a lot of fluff and up speak.

Nice voice, well researched, interesting subject matter, and best of all it helps me fall asleep at night!

Love the whole show, even through the changes, it stayed constant, I hope new episodes are coming soon, I miss the story telling, thanks!

I think a lot of people don’t appreciate the unpaid labour that goes into making a podcast… the reviews are so harsh! Thanks for making this podcast! I liked it & hope more episodes come.

Wow, there was so much more to the Tom Capano murder of Ann Marie Fahey but this podcast glossed right over it. The narrator has a lovely voice but no inflection so it’s difficult to get interested in the story.

There is a background siren screech sound every 10 to 20 seconds throughout the podcast. I was listening to a podcast about two serial killer brothers and got a migraine headache halfway through. Thanks:(

I don’t really like giving bad reviews about podcasters because I know they do a lot of work. However, some people just don’t have the voice for podcasting in the same way that some people don’t have the right personality for teaching. Just because you are interested in something doesn’t mean...Read full review »

I like the stories, but your reading is too evident. Don’t sound natural. You’re reading without meaning what you’re saying.

Thank you for doing an amazing job, girls! I just discovered you today and I’m so happy I did because now I have a ton of episodes to catch up on.

I don't know what people are whining about, her voice is fine. The cases are interesting and well-researched. This podcast deserves more attention.Read full review »

I really liked this podcast, unfortunately you decided to bring in your own opinions on politics.

Not sure if this podcast is coming back, but I wanted to leave a review to say that I loved it! I thought the narration was well done. Lots of people seemed to have issues with the host, but I thought she was great. I loved that the podcast was straight-forward and to-the-point, without a lot of...Read full review »

In the Carole Tregoff/Bernard Finch episode, the nanny couldn't have called 911 because it hadn't been invented yet and wouldn't come to LA for another 25 years or so. If totally obvious goofs like this are made, how many lesser-obvious ones go undetected? Also - cheer up and...Read full review »

Ehh
Decent and interesting material. Howeve, the weird 2 minutes blank intro and low tones is extremely odd and annoying. Also, The narrator’s voice has a weird “up” inflection at the end of sentences along with a strange drawl.
MCaff89 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/28/21
I appreciate the soft and contemplative voice Colleen uses in her podcasting. Murder is a tough subject to discuss, and she does it with kindness and a touch of reverence. My number one complaint is the ads. I would listen more often if I didn’t have to constantly turn the volume down each time...Read full review »

How does this have 4 star rating, it’s terrible. So boring and the hosts sound like they hate what they are doing. These are so many true crime podcasts, don’t they realize they need to stand out?
nicolenoelle890 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/03/21
I can not make it through a 30 minute episode because of the narrator. Her voice is nasally and she has the most obnoxious enunciation and ends sentences with a weird up tone as if she is asking a question rather than making a statement. Maybe she is reading the stories for the first time at...Read full review »

Both ladies are out of breath when reading and I think it would benefit if they took a breathing class or singing lessons to help control that. Listening to the the newer episodes it seems they take that out but now it’s just a bunch of pauses.
jgchapa via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/13/21
Just cant get enough of swallowing sounds into the mic. If you could do it more, that would be great. Love all the obscure cases you profile too!
WowthatNameIsTaken via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/11/21
This podcast looks interesting and I was excited about its topics and content as they weren’t a rehash of the same stories. However I just couldn’t take the monotone delivery with odd emphasis on last word and unnecessary long pauses. Constant swallowing drove me crazy! If you did this again...Read full review »

It would be less jarring if the narrator just read the ads. The transition is glaring and unsettling.
annalise d. via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/17/21
then this podcast would be perfect! No enthusiasm and her monotone voice makes everything sounds so boring and forced.
Bab33tee via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/12/21
I really am enjoying the podcast but I can do without hearing you swallow every couple minutes. Driving me crazy!
SamChops30 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/03/21
Over 7 minutes into the podcast and zero true crime content just race baiting critical race theory nonsense about LA. You can skip right over this one.

Boring pandering annoying. Nextttt....
Cabby009 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/29/21
Great intro and no nonsense that I don’t want to listen to! The narrator’s voice is really soothing and not annoying. I actually stay interested in the story instead of getting distracted. Thank you

It saddens me to write this because this was everything i wanted in a true crime podcast; well written, no in between excess chatter, straight to the point, and not too long/short. But the monotone voice just drives me absolutely crazy. Where's the excitement, inflection, anything !! 😭Read full review »

What’s up with the gimmicky pauses and ending sentences in weird inflections as if there’s more to come? It’s so annoying.

Funding to feed and free protesters? How about funding and feeding the business owners that these disgusting protesters destroyed?! Then maybe give those idiots a job working for you. You’re gross.
Bobornrn via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/05/21
The stories are interesting if you can get past the narrator. Honestly though, how did she get selected for the job?? I’ve never heard someone so absolutely annoyed with everything she’s reading.
cyoak17 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/04/21
Content and research is really good, but really need some inflection in voice. It’s robotic and I can’t get through a whole show without turning it off. I tried again today and it was a no go.
Jenimac75 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/30/20
The story is interesting and concise, but the long pauses that may be attempts to build suspense are just annoying and take away from the story. If the listener has time to think, “oh, no. Is it buffering?”, then the pause is too long. Also, the monotone voice might be for effect too, but it...Read full review »

Ugh... I lived in Philly during the Annmarie Fahey case. What the heck is going on with this narrators style? It’s awful. I want to listen and I just can’t I had to turn it off.

Seems like the stories might be interesting, but why the long pauses after every 1-2 sentences? Such bring, monotonous manner of speech that it’s painful to listen to.
spressole via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/07/20
Well researched and written, but I find it difficult to pay attention because of the flat delivery. Background music is unnecessary. The presenter has an odd drone yo her voice, most notably at the end of a sentence.
TildaJean via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/05/20
I’ve been listening since the beginning and I love it. It’s all crime, no filler. I do miss Eileen the other host and their charming chats at the start but I still appreciate the cases chosen (often lesser known ones and those affecting minorities) and the research some. Thanks Coleen!

Too monotone
pocaster8902 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/17/20
The stories are good, great details, the tone of the storyteller sounds boring and bland, it’s annoying how she sounds at the end of every sentence. This could be a very good podcast if she put a little more emotion to her voice.
jor riv via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/12/20
I love the previous comment about “all lives matter” is racist. That’s comical. I like true crime to get away from the mess that is politics. I don’t want it in my true crime. Geez.
Mama2Charlotte via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/10/20
The narrator spirals in such a dead monotone that I couldn’t get half way through the episode. Very disappointing as I thought I’d found another good true crime podcast.
miamomma3019 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/30/20
I am annoyed by the rude comments about Black Lives Matter. If you are going with the “All Lives Matter” racist motto, go listen to FOX stations! Nice job and good details, ladies. You are describing a racist system in a fairly calm way, actually. (I am white, BTW.) I am angry about these...Read full review »

Love that I stumbled upon this podcast. And I also love that they jump right to the story and don’t yak about everything else during the story. I have noticed in the last 5 episodes I have heard...when it was just one person doing it...it seems so monotone. Other than that love it!
