“If you're like me -- and I know I am -- this is the podcast you have been waiting for, but didn't know it. Two of my favorite people from Mystery Science Theater 3000, the eponymous Mads, are back!
"TV's Frank" Conniff and Trace Beaulieu (who portrayed Dr. Clayton Forrester as well as being the puppeteer and voice of Crow T. Robot for most of the show's run), bring their unique mixture of acerbic and goofy humor. Carolina Hidalgo plays the roll of handler and straight man, doing amazing levels of research into the movie of the week.
Which reminds me, you might be wondering what they talk about. Well, as befits alums of MST3k, they talk about movies. In this podcast, they talk about movies both good and bad. Each week has a movie that all three of them watch, and then they spend about an exploring the movie, what each of them liked and didn't like, and using it as a launchpad to discuss "related" movies -- be that relation the director, actors, genre, setting... Almost anything can catch their fancy.
I love to hear Frank and Trace talking and joking with each other in this podcast. It's probably about as close to the experience of sitting in on an MST3k writing session as one can find; at least that's what I chose to believe. Carolina does a great job, and works with Frank sometimes (she was in one of his other podcasts, as well as his show Cartoon Dump, from what I've gathered so far). Also, I get to jealously imagine what it'd be like to have Carolina's job and get to go watch movies with Frank.
