Fascinating look at militant dweebery
“Being a nerd is the new cool” has jumped the shark. Plenty of nerds are still just nerds. When frequent podcast guest (and host, and stand-up, and multiple one-woman-show producer) Jamie Loftus got admitted to Mensa on a lark, she found herself dealing with boiling nerd rage very quickly. This docu-series look at the world of Mensans, their elevated self-image, and their fear and loathing of the world outside their micro-control is funny while at times being poignant and sad. But she didn’t make them that way; she only shined a light on her experience after a hard won battle with a multiple choice spatial reasoning quiz. Don’t hate the player, Mensa; hate the weird and outmoded game of your own design.

Jamie is one of the most funny and caring people I’ve come across through podcasts and later her YouTube channel. This podcast is very well done and I was pleasantly surprised with its quality and the insights. Plus the sound effects are amazing! Rock on Jamie!
