Speedo up and dive in!
Being myself far from a professor of anything in the realm of Tolkien - I am but an appreciateur of his works - Corey Olsen's in-depth analyses, thougths and seemingly ever-expanding understanding of the works of the professor proper, in this particular case The Lord of the Rings, make me open my eyes to what lies hidden between the book's covers and builds a whole new understanding of the immensity of the sub-creation of Tolkien. I am writing this three months after my initial review was published because I left out a crucial element in the make up of this great podcast: the people participating in the discussion of the text. They are an integral part of each episode and I have many times marveled at their insights and their knowledge of Tolkien's works. I feel I am a part of this relatively small group of people and love being with them; listening, thinking and talking.Read full review »

The people that say that the lip smacking and “um”ing is annoying are right, yes, but I think we need to remember that this is a live lecture and that he would need some time to think and prepare what he is going to say.
