“I've gone through a lot of podcasts for the sake of learning for fun. History, science, urban legends, older myths. Hell, I spent a month listening to conspiracy and paranormal podcasts because there's nothing more fascinating than analyzing the people who deal with that. Most, I get one or two episodes in, try a random one with a subjec that would appeal to me, and then drop it. I find most tend to fall into two categories. Either it's done in a dense monotone lecture, which while relaxing, is tough to pay attention to; or it's...pithy? I'm not sure what the right word would be, sassy, taking a light silly tone. Which is fine sometimes, but I don't enjoy listening to a podcast that sounds like a 90's cartoon's idea of 'hip'.
Somehow, Myths and Legends manages to navigate between the two. It assumes the listener is intelligent enough to have some pre-existing context, but doesn't leave you worrying there's a test next week. He talks like he's sharing a story with a friend, but he never says anything that makes you cringe or feel like he's going to ask you for an awkward high five afterward.
