I love this podcast as I’ve always loved the intelligent and tongue in cheek perspective of John Dickerson. This is even more appreciated in this challenging time Thank you John Dickerson and Slate!

Sure some podcasts are great for the knowledge they impart as one listens, but for my time I’d rather learn in an experience and that’s what Navel Gazing has created in each episode. The structure, the sound, the percussion, the reading, and the humanity bring a smile to my face. John Dickerson...Read full review »

I love John Dickerson on the Slate Political gabfest, but I found this show intolerable. It’s far too long, the writing is muddled and unclear, the point is elusive, and the delivery is stilted and formal. The conceit of the show (revisiting pages from old journals) has its charms, but anecdotes...Read full review »

What a pleasure it is to listen to one of the great American voices of all time showcase his fine writing. Maybe a touch flowery once or twice, but that’s exactly what happens when we journal, write unedited for ourselves. Sounds authentically “Dickerson”. John’s podcast is so moving. … whose reporting and commentary I have enjoyed since the disastrous 2016 presidential election. John’s notes are insightful, and thought provoking. Reflections on his son going off to college made me proud (and wistful) to be a parent. Thank you!

Totally awesome. Makes me wish I had kept journals all my life. Hope to meet this brilliant man someday. Funny, insightful, and sublimely provocative in the most mellow catholic way possible.

Such a gem! I’ve always liked John Dickerson on Political Gabfest and Whistlestop. But this new Navelgaving show hit so many buttons for me: Profrock, Montaigne, Sunday afternoons, relationships. I can’t wait for the next one!

Fans of Delilah’s warmth, sweet dedications and evening advice will love John’s new pod on making sense of life and what’s around us. Navel Gazing is not only about the host—it’s about you. I recommend listening on a walk outside.

A delightful listen! John Dickerson of Slate’s Political Gabfest is on his own and takes the listener along as he revisits the notebooks he has been keeping throughout his adult life. Ruminations, reminiscences! A chance to get to know a thoughtful and interesting person better. Connie Bickford

John Dickerson is a national treasure. The title of the podcast is very apt, but the end product is a beautiful accompaniment to a quiet cup of coffee Saturday morning. For the first time in years, I listened to a podcast on normal (1x) speed - because I just wanted to sit and chat with John.

If you’re already a fan of John, you know he has a way with words. This podcast is like listening to great literature, though much more conversational. Like listening to a friend. Slice of life, with profound truths.
