Love hearing these 3 discussing life and cycling, the interaction between the 3 of them is always uplifting and diverting, and it’s always a good day when their podcast pops up in my feed - would highly recommend

Love the rapport that Ned, Dave and Pete have. Some of the tangents they go off on are delightfully quirky. I particularly enjoy the occasions when Matt Stephens joins in and inevitably the pod becomes a food/drink/supermarket review pod. Even if you’re not into cycling this pod is well worth a...Read full review »

Ned, David and Pete give their take on professional cycling and everything inbetween. I love it.

Intelligent, funny and always interesting, NSF takes the listener on a journey with every edition. It’s not just about cycling, it is also about the people and places that make the sport great, and it is delivered beautifully by Ned, David and Peter who are knowledgeable and funny in equal measure.

A real highlight for me as a non-cycling cycling fan. I look forward to every episode. Insight, enthusiasm, meandering tales and genuine camaraderie between the three. Makes me laugh out loud, especially the impressions and universal language! Absolutely love it. Massive thanks to all involved.

I have followed this podcast from the beginning and as it has evolved with the addition of David and Pete, it has only increased in expertise, understanding and fun. All you ever need to know about cycling and much more beyond, you will find on this podcast. @dtb200

Wonderfully wholesome, gentle, informative nonsense - good cycling content but even better human content
SFteven via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/07/24
A splendid buffet of randomness sprinkled with an occasional side order of cycling. Always entertaining and sometimes even offers factual content.

I had never listened to any podcasts before this summer but have become addicted to Never Strays Far now. I’ve spent a happy bingeing on NSF - 8 hours! I follow Ned, David & Pete when they are commenting on tv but to hear them through my ‘information pad’ or phone when the tv coverage is...Read full review »

Just listened to Paris-Nice Stage 8.. pleased to hear I wasn't the only one to be able to hear only Ned on Stage 7 Podcast! I thought the length of the Paris-Nice 2024 Pods were just right. Ned and Dave (not forgetting Pete) make a great team for presenting a podcast Keep up the good workRead full review »

An awesome podcast. Beautiful, intelligent, knowledgeable and hilarious ramblings and anecdotes about everything and nothing and a bit of cycling! Love it; listen and you too will be hooked!

It’s the relationship between Ned, David and Peter (and whichever brother or sister might join them at the time. It’s the insight into the behind the scenes things that brings their tv coverage to life. It’s the frequent absence of any cycling content at all, set within the context of the most...Read full review »

Joyous, funny and educational chat - often about bike racing- frequently not.

Love this show - utter silly nonsense. Barely a sniff of in-depth cycling analysis or boring rider interviews. Just weird stories about how Pete accidentally took his entire family on a party/pirate ship.

Ned is a broadcasting genius able to be interesting for hours on end; ably assisted by David and Pete with their insider insights into the world of cycling. A combo to treasure.

Genius Ned, cycling on ‘the wireless’. A brilliant podcast and proof if it were ever needed that great pictures can be made in the mind. Didn’t envy you one bit.

As someone else has already said, this was different but wonderful. It reminded me of the better days of Radio Four which are mostly no longer with us, sadly. The perfect episode for cooking in the kitchen on a wintery afternoon, a real treat!

It may not have been normal NSF content, but this episode was poetic, and simply painted a beautiful picture in words. I felt like I was riding alongside you Ned, and enjoyed every moment of journey. Thank you.

Really fun listen. I’ve been playing catch up, so have binge listened to nearly all of it in the last few weeks. That bloody Netflix series got me into TDF, and no you don’t have to be a cyclist to listen - I can’t even ride a bike.

Such a great pod, the guys are interesting, funny and it’s an easy listen. You don’t even need to like cycling 😅

I am a regular listener. Just listened to this episode. This was an outstanding effort. Great job guys. I loved the tension of David making his Duolingo debut as an event anchorman. The most genial but incisive coverage of cycling. The relationship between Ned and David is the glue that holds the podcasts wanderings between analysts, whimsy and nostalgia. A wonderful podcast that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Reminds me of Mortimer and Whitehouse in Gone Fishing. Just a joyous 40 minutes or so. You just never know what or who is going to pop up and yes a bit of cycling too.

Excellent insight from Pete and David, not sure what Ned is all about - he comes across as “audibly stupid” most of the time.

Really enjoy this pod. Light, insightful at times, and a great mix of personalities / camaraderie. Doesn’t feel forced. Strongly recommend.

Long time listener and fan of the show. Used to have good race analysis and a few fun and interesting tangents. But this year’s Tour version is just 3 guys in a car talking about random things, no structure, no plan and no intention. Nothing wrong with that per se, but it’s just not for me. Always look forward to the pod during the Tour. David’s blog email and listen to the Pod daily. Highly amusing and entertaining. Great banter between Ned, David, Pete (and guest). Also so many other insider stories and facts you never get on the tee-vee. Great work lads!

Thank you for the wonderful texture you bring to cycling and how it reflects the world. I just picked up the last copy of 1923 available near us for my parter and was already in tears after reading just 11 pages in the local book shop cafe. Thanks Ned, thanks fellas.
