I ran onto my friend Jessica Lewis at Maru Coffee in Los Feliz. I asked her what book she was reading and she said Gender Trouble," followed by a story about her very recent spiritual and sexual awakening. I stopped her mid story and said come on my podcast and tell me all about it. Not only is Jessica's story compelling, she exudes a cheerfulness, positivity and most importantly open mindedness that is seriously lacking in today's cultural and political landscape. This episode is along one,...

Wendi Starling is a good friend and hands down one of the funniest people I know. We make each other laugh so much and this episode is full of ridiculous tangents that spin off of very serious topics. Our comedic chemistry is so in tune we can talk about really dark s**t and joke about it moments later. This is a two parter because we didn't even scratch the surface of what we were meaning to get to, which will be in part two next week. Follow Wendi here and tell her what you thought of the...

I talk about how annoying it is when celebrities appear on CNN to solve the world’s problems and how much more annoying it is when people tell artists to stick to their job. Maybe there’s a time and place is for all of that and maybe you're a lazy protester. Plus, new music by a bunch of bands I love: The National, Grizzly Bear and more.

I jump around a lot here and wonder how many collabs is too many collabs (Supreme I'm talking about you), a little serious Nazi talk, athleisure is pointless fad, and metal song titles are so insane and hilarious and how accepting I'm not a music aficionado anymore :(. Also: thoughts on the new Harry Styles album. REMEMBER: Subscribe to Nick America on iTunes and rate and review the podcast.

Solo episode! Driving back from a gig in Arizona has given me time to more closely examine the importance of solo time and letting your thoughts wander uninterrupted. I try walking with no headphones for the first time in a while. I leave my phone and watch behind when I go eat. I decide to pull further back from social media and see how it impacts my mindset, creativity and overall stress and anxiety levels. I sign up for a meditation class. What else can I try? We'll see how these go first...

She realized she needed something new, something better. Throughout our conversation it became apparent she found it. Watch Jameela on NBCs The Good Place and follow...
