So interesting and engaging . I am devastated that there were so few episodes.

A really fascinating re-look at history, enjoyed very much the forgotten characters and nuanced views. Sad that there is much still to be done, but we are heading in the right direction.

The best podcast I’ve ever listened to. So much information and so fascinating. I’ve been recommending it to everyone I see! Definitely one that everyone should listen to. Wish it had been available 25 plus years ago! Perhaps it should become a part of school curriculum. Certainly needs to be...Read full review »

Absolutely love Philippa Gregory, so this podcast is unsurprisingly fantastic! So many revelations packed into the first episode. Can’t wait to listen to the rest.

It was refreshing to hear women talking about the realities of women throughout the ages. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I gave this a listen as I like history podcasts and also I’ve read a few of Philipa Gregories books. I was hooked in and will be buying other publications by the author off the back of this, fascinating subject.

Just listened to the …Beyond Definition episode, I was a bit dubious after having to give up some episodes after about ten minutes. I was hoping for a sensible discussion on the definition of women. The Australian academic was very good, and had great well balanced discussion points; but Dr...Read full review »

Loved this series. Fascinating both historically and in its analysis of modern society. A really inclusive and accessible piece of feminist history that I’m now going to get my teenage daughter to listen to!

Loved this series! Almost laughable if it wasn’t so desperatley sad to hear the oppression of women through out history over different topics and how we have got to where we are now and also how far we still have to go! Recommend for Women and Men to listen to and looking forward to reading the...Read full review »

I love this podcast, Philippa Gregory is a hero of mine. The episode with Gerri Halliwell was absolute cringe though.. I really think you should leave off the micro celebrities Philippa! And her internalised misogyny was so depressing… really grim. Other than that, great stuff.

I actually listened to the very end and Geri stopped doing it!

Thoroughly enjoyed this new and different podcast. I am a keen amateur historian and women’s place in history is generally overlooked. I hope the momentum keeps up. Phillipa Gregory is the perfect host

This reveals so much about Western women in history, which in turn reveals so much about women’s standing in contemporary Western culture. Interspersed and illustrated with historical references, including to real women and what they said. Vivid, engaging storytelling with touches of wry humour...Read full review »

Disappointed to hear factual inaccuracies in the first episode as I was looking forward to this series. The episode about pay and work is so full of misleading claims, and it’s very disappointing that Humphreys didn’t react as she definitely knows better.

Listening to the second episode of this with Geri Halliwell, was painful and I couldn’t actually finish it. Talk about missing the point – she managed to centre men in most of her responses completely confirming an earlier point that we often don’t want to hold men responsible for XYZ… Shame.

Thank you! Wonderful exploration of historical and contemporary women’s issues. I was sold on this by the podcast’s title but then when I saw who Philippa was talking with I was even happier - great guests.
